Sandblasting can be defined as one of the effective methods with
which a surface can be shaped, cleaned and smoothed and all foreign material
is removed. It can be stationary or portable in nature. Stationary sand
blasting is done in cabinets or booths whereas portable sand blasting is done
in portable sand blasters, hopped blasters. Thus it is also known as
portable abrasive blasting, portable shot blasting, and portable grit blasting.
It can be related to sandpaper for their similar effects. The material receives
a completely new look and a better finish. All nooks and corners get completely
clean. This method involves air blasting whereby very small material pieces are
shot at a very high pressure in order to etch or clean or to smooth them.
Surfaces are typically metal, glass, brick or even wood.
Air compressor + selected abrasive (blasting sand) + blast pot +
appropriate nozzle + on/off control + blast surface = high-speed erosion
(removal of dust particles from the blast surface.)
Portable sand blasting machines or mobile sand blasters are the
machines which can be movable from one place to another easily. Sand blasting
is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material (blasting
sand) against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen
a smooth surface or to remove the surface materials. Sand used to be the most
commonly used material, but since the lung disease are caused by extended
inhalation of the dust created by sand, other materials are now used in its place
(such as copper slag, steel grit, baking soda, glass beads, dry ice and walnut
shells).

One thing you should never sandblast in portable abrasive sand
blasting machine other than yourself is sheet metal. This will twist regardless
of pressure. The common misunderstanding is that heat is warping the sheet
metal. If the blast media is harder than the metal blasted, material is removed
leaving a texture. This stretches the blasted side of metal. Use sanding
methods for flat panels, or use a softer abrasive like Walnut shell or plastic
media.

shot blasting machine) are typically powered by air compressor and mini
sandblasting machine is named so because of its small sized blast pot/ small
abrasive blaster. The air compressor provides a large volume of high pressure
air to a single "blast pots" or mini shot blasting machine. Blast
pots (Small Sandblaster) are pressurized, tank-like containers, filled with
abrasive material (blasting sand), and used to allow an adjustable amount of
blasting sand into the main blasting line. Fully equipped small sandblaster are
often found mounted on wheels, offering high mobility and easy transport from
site to site. It is also known as small abrasive blaster, mini abrasive blaster

Medium capacity Sandblasting machines or portable sandblasting
system are used for the process of smoothing, shaping and cleaning a surface by
forcing solid particles across that surface at high speeds or with high velocities;
abrasive sandblaster effect is similar to that of using sandpaper, but provides
a more even finish with no problems at corners or crannies or cracks.
Sandblasting machines or abrasive sandblaster can occur naturally, usually as a
result of particles blown by wind causing erosion , or artificially, by using
compressed air using air compressors. Medium capacity sand blasting machine is a machine without remote control, which means
operator need to manually switch ON/OFF the machine knob of blasting pot. Sand

Medium Capacity Sand Blasting Machines
Medium capacity sand blasting machines or sandblasting hopper are
named so because of their storing blasting sand capacity or volume of sand in
the blasting pot and easy movement of micro sandblaster. This machine is
operated manually by the operator when pressure in the blast pot increases or
decreases. In this type of machines cleaning rate is 9-12 Sq. Mtrs./Hr. that is
moderate. It is cheaper in cost than the remote controller machine.
Large Capacity Sand Blasting Machines
In this large sand blasting machine cleaning rate is high as
compare to other blasting machine. Its sand blasting pot capacity is also high.
As compared with others we need to fill 4-5 times less the blasting pot. There
are large wheels in this which help in easy movement. There is vibrating shiev
placed at the top of blast pot from where we would fill the sand. In this there
is no remote controller therefore operator need to control the machine manually
by ON/OFF the knob. Even there is big blasting holes diameter. Even it is
cheaper in comparison with remote control portable air sand blaster.
